That method in the video is a perfect example of the type of training/communication that has 96% success rates.

I've used that housetraining method successfully on every dog I've owned over the years and even given it to friends when they brought home a new dog.

The reason this method works so well is that it exploits the optimal learning environment for dogs.

Dogs learn through repetition and consistency – when the same consequence happens for the same behavior. Three common training methods that use repetition and consistency are luring, shaping, and catching. These are used for training your dog to perform behaviors.

Luring is just what it sounds like…you manipulate your dog's movement with a treat or a favorite toy. This is commonly used for behaviors such as sit and roll over. Catching is praising your dog for doing behaviors over the course of their normal actions. You reward and praise them whenever they do a behavior you want. As you've probably guessed, catching is the most time consuming, and in my experience, luring works better and faster anyway.

Shaping is when your dog learns to combine more than one behavior. The house training method in the above video is a classic example of shaping. Your dog learns two behaviors: the potty is outside, and the "bathroom word" is associated with going to the potty.
